The Rodeo Werkz 13-Step Window Tint Standard
Step 1: Identify the Vehicle Pattern
Every install starts with pulling the correct film pattern for your vehicle’s make, year, model, and available trim details. Glass geometry can vary across configurations, so we use computer-cut patterns whenever available rather than trimming film by hand on the glass.
Step 2: Inspect the Vehicle and Confirm Material
Before any film is cut, we walk the vehicle and document existing glass condition, window seals, prior tint residue, and any factory wear. We then confirm the correct film and thickness is loaded before plotting.
Step 3: Plot the Pattern to the Required Film Width
Patterns are plotted using film sized appropriately for your vehicle’s glass. Where technically appropriate, this supports one-piece rear-window installation rather than a seamed application across two pieces of film.
Step 4: Tack the Film and Secure the Edges
Film is tacked on a dedicated peel bar and the edges secured with water before handling, which helps protect film cleanliness and keep the material dimensionally stable as it moves from the bar to the glass.
Step 5: Clean the Glass and Tape as Needed
We perform an initial glass cleaning pass and tape any surrounding trim, seals, painted frames, or sensor housings that installation could otherwise affect.
Step 6: Protect the Interior
Door savers, a dashboard cover, and windshield rope go in before any installation solution is used. Window tinting is a wet process, and this step is designed to protect door cards, electronics, and dash components from water exposure throughout the install. 
Step 7: Apply Shrinking Fluid
Shrinking fluid is applied to the exterior glass to prepare the film for shaping to your vehicle’s curvature.
Step 8: Heat-Shrink the Film as Needed
Many rear windows curve in more than one direction. Heat-shrinking pre-forms the film to the glass before installation, which helps reduce unnecessary tension in the film and supports a cleaner, more stable fit along the edges over time.
Step 9: Three-Stage Interior Glass Cleaning
This is the most time-intensive step in the standard. The interior glass is cleaned in three stages:
- Blade pass to lift bonded residue and factory overspray
- Foam pad pass to clean the surface evenly, including the perimeter
- Final squeegee pass to leave a clean bonding surface
This step is designed to minimize contamination reaching the bonding surface before film is applied.
Step 10: Install the Film Using Controlled Installation Solution
We use a controlled, minimal amount of installation solution enough to properly position the film without oversaturating the glass. This approach helps protect the vehicle’s interior and supports a cleaner installation; actual cure time still depends on the film, weather, and vehicle.
Step 11: Finish and Check Every Edge
Each edge, on every window, is worked and dried individually by hand with paper towel and squeegee, since the edges are typically the first place an installation issue would appear.
Step 12: Full Tool and Interior Check
We conduct a complete tool count and interior sweep to confirm nothing is left in the vehicle.
Step 13: Final Interior and Exterior Clean
The vehicle is wiped down and handed back clean, with glass clear and no residue from the install process.

Note: IR rejection is not the same as total heat rejection. Total solar energy rejection accounts for visible and UV light in addition to infrared, and is the more complete measure of a film’s overall heat-blocking performance.

A warranty covers defects in the film itself. It does not cover installation issues such as contamination, seams, or lifted edges which is why installation quality is the variable that determines whether a warranty ever needs to be used. 
Texas Window Tint Law: What Applies to Your Install
We install current Texas film-darkness requirements at the time of your appointment. Texas law generally provides:
- Front side windows: must allow at least 25% VLT, measured with the film and factory glass together — not the film alone.
- Rear side windows: any darkness permitted.
- Rear windshield: any darkness permitted if the vehicle is equipped with functioning outside mirrors on both sides.
- Windshield: tinted film is limited to the top strip above the AS-1 line (typically the top five inches) and must allow at least 25% VLT. Clear, untinted UV-protective film is permitted across the full windshield.
Lower VLT numbers mean darker film — 20% is darker than 35%. We’ll walk you through what’s legal and available for your specific vehicle before anything is cut.
